University of San Francisco: USF Silicon Valley Immersion Program IT Innovation and Entrepreneurship
Key Areas of Study:
Clearly Silicon Valley is seen as the most successful IT innovation cluster worldwide. There have been various attempts to imitate the goals, structures and cultures of Silicon Valley elsewhere around the world.
As a part of the Silicon Valley Immersion program “Innovation and entrepreneurship” we visited several large companies (Google, HP, Ebay, Paypal etc) in the Sillicon Valley. During the company visits we did field research to answer the following main and sub research questions:
Main Research Question: Is it possible to imitate the success of the Silicon Valley area elsewhere and what are the preconditions for achieving this?
Sub Research Questions:
1. In which way do you organize your activities and partners to innovate?
2. Which key resources are essential for innovation?
3. Which business model is most optimal to stimulate innovative behaviour?
4. How do you invest in new activities or green fields?
